Merge Videos, Every Setting: Fit, Fill, Crossfade, Music
Every setting of the free Merge Videos tool on three clips from one walk, one of them filmed upright on a phone. It says before anything runs that they will be re-encoded (24.0 s, 1920×1080) because they do not share one video setup. Fit shows the whole upright clip with bars, Fill crops it to cover, Stretch distorts it — all three shown in the merged result. A 0.5 s crossfade takes 24 s to 23; trimming a clip takes it to 20; music goes under the whole video. And clips that do share a setup — one recording cut in two — join without re-encoding: 8.0 s, the same 200 frames. Nothing is uploaded.

Merge Videos, every setting, on three clips from one walk: two 1920×1080 clips and one filmed upright on a phone (1080×1920). They play in the order listed; Move up and Move down change it. Before anything runs, the estimate says what you will get — 24.0 s at 1920×1080 — and that it will re-encode, because the clips do not share one video configuration. The upright clip is what the shape setting is for: Fit shows all of it with black bars at the sides, Fill crops it to cover the frame, Stretch pulls it to the frame and distorts it; the video shows each one in the merged result. Crossfade blends each clip into the next — every 0.5 s fade overlaps two clips, so 24 s becomes 23. Trim & audio opens each clip: ending the second at 6 s makes the video 20 s, and a clip can be muted. A music file can go under the whole video, with its volume, how far it ducks under the clips’ own sound, repeat or play once, and fades. When clips do share one setup — here, one recording cut in two at a keyframe — they join without re-encoding: 8.0 s, the same 200 frames, nothing lost. Free: 10 clips of up to 100 MB each (500 MB in all), 20 minutes out. Pro: 50 clips, no size cap, and the quality, resolution and frame-rate choices. Nothing is uploaded.
