Every edit starts in two places: the media pool, and the tracks. Here is what each part does — and the one rule that decides which picture ends up on top.

Read on your device · 5.00 s · H.264

Grid shows thumbnails. List puts the details in a column — easier when there are forty clips, not three.

Double-click → onto the timeline

The higher track is on top

Hide Video 1 → the city

Drag the grip → city on top

Locked: it stays put

Mute silences a track without deleting anything. Here it is the music.

+ Video track · + Audio track

So: hide to compare two takes, lock once a track is done, and reorder to choose what is on top.

Editing 4K in a browser stays smooth, because the editor quietly builds a small copy to play — and your sequence can match your footage in one click.

PROXY · 960 × 540

Preview: proxy · Export: original

Sequence settings · size and fps

Match first clip · 3840 × 2160 · 25 fps

Vertical 1080 × 1920 · 30 fps

So: let the proxy carry heavy footage, and set the sequence to where the video is going before you cut.

There are two ways to cut a clip in this editor — and only one of them leaves your music alone.

Split (S) cuts every track

Not what you wanted? Control Z puts all three back.

Cut (B): only the clip you click

Delete the middle piece, and it leaves a two-second gap.

Shift + Delete closes the gap

Ctrl + D: a copy, right after

Snap on: exactly 3.00 s · off: 2.93 s

Zoom in to place a cut precisely. Fit brings the whole edit back on screen.

M marks · Shift + . jumps

So: Split to cut every track at once, the Cut tool for one clip, and ripple delete when you never want a gap.

Edit faster: one right-click gives you ripple delete, J and L cuts, linking, grouping and paste — and two keys move anything a frame at a time.

Ripple delete · the gap closes

Detach audio · J cut, 1 s early

Link audio and video · offset kept

Box select · Ctrl + G

Copy · Paste here

and , · one frame

So: ripple to close gaps, detach for J and L cuts, and group what has to move together.

A hard cut is fine — until it is not. Here is how to soften it, freeze a moment, and change the speed.

Animate → Between clips → Push left

Neither clip moves · city still at 5.00 s

Cross dissolve blends one shot into the other, the same way.

Crossfade: the city now starts at 4.50 s

Fade in: 1 s

Freeze frame · the clip keeps its length

Speed 2× · 6 s → 3 s

Rate stretch: 4.51 s at 1.33×

So: a transition to join two shots, a freeze to hold a moment, and speed to fit the beat.

A title on the picture, a banner behind it, and a photo in the corner — three layers, and every one of them editable.

Shape · unlink · wide · rounded

Gradient · shadow

Position Y: 0.55 · the lower third

Text · a new layer, on top

Impact · size 14

Move it down onto the banner.

Animate In: Pop

Image · Upload · Fill

9 layer types

Banner behind, words on top, photo in the corner — and each one is a layer you can hide, lock or reorder.

Fade through black at a cut, flash to white at the end, and make a title slide in and fade out.

Between clips · Dip to black

Transitions · Out · Dip to white

Text · Animate · In: Slide · Out: Fade

Black at the cut · almost white at the end

So: a dip to change scene, a dip to white to end, and an In and an Out on every title.

One clip, graded five ways — a look, a fix, a curve, a LUT — and a layer that grades everything at once.

Looks: Warm · Cool · B&W

Contrast 120 · Saturation 130

Curves: lift the midtones

ACES · +0.5 EV

Color LUT (.cube)

Adjust · the whole sequence, 0–11 s

B&W on the layer

Scopes: histogram · waveform

So: a look for speed, curves for control, and an adjustment layer for the whole film.

Anything with a number can move. Here is how to make it move — and how to decide the way it moves.

Animate · In · Zoom in

Add keyframe: position · scale · rotation · opacity

Playhead later · Scale up → a second key

Ease out: fast, then settling

Record: every change writes a key

The graph: curves · speed

Copy · paste onto another clip

So: a preset when one click will do, keys when you want the move, and the graph to shape it.

Show one shot through a hole in another — a circle, a star, or any shape you can draw.

FX · Masks · Ellipse

Feather: a soft edge

Invert: the city in the middle

Star · Subtract

Track mask: it follows the subject

Convert to path · drag a point

So: a shape to frame a moment, invert to swap the shots, and tracking when the subject moves.

Two shots in one frame — a picture in the corner, or one glowing right through the other.

Scale 35 · into the corner

Flip H: a mirror image

Blend: Screen

Multiply: the darks win

6 blend modes

A photo · a 5-second clip

So: picture in picture to show two things at once, and a blend mode when you want them to become one.

Music, a voice, and the one trick that makes them sit together: the music drops whenever someone speaks.

Volume: 60%

Every audio clip shows its waveform, so you can see where the beats and the words are.

A voice-over on its own track

Duck under Audio 2 · −14 dB

Ordinary volume keyframes

Speed · Maintain audio pitch

So: set the music level once, put the voice on its own track, and let ducking do the rest.

Fade music in and out, and crossfade two shots so their sound crosses over too.

Sound clip · Fade in 2 s · Fade out 3 s

Crossfade · picture and sound

Pro: Clean audio

Music 1 s in: 50% · mid-crossfade: 50 / 50

So: fades on any sound clip, and Crossfade where two shots meet.

Cut every silence out of a recording in one click — across every track at once.

Here is a voice-over over two shots — with a pause in the middle, and nothing at all after it.

Transcript · Remove silence

2 stretches · 5.34 s · 11 s → 5.7 s

Too much? One undo puts every cut back.

Pro: transcript editing · captions

So: remove silence for a quick tidy, and the transcript when you want to edit by what was said.

Turn a wide shot into a vertical one — and keep the face in frame, automatically.

Sequence · Vertical 1080 × 1920

Reframe: 19 of 19 · 12 keyframes

Play it back, and the crop moves with the face.

Safe zones: Shorts · TikTok · Reels

Pro: Remove background

So: reframe for every vertical platform, safe zones before you post, and background removal when the scene has to go.

Steady a shaky handheld shot, and turn thirty frames a second into sixty for smooth slow motion — in your browser.

AI · Stabilize this clip

Side-to-side shake −64%

Original kept · undo puts it back

Smooth motion · 2× frames

30 fps → 60 fps · up to 720p

Speed 0.5× · still fluid

So: stabilize handheld shots that sway, and smooth the motion before you slow a clip down.

Pin a name to someone who keeps moving, or blur a face that will not stay still. The editor tracks it, frame by frame.

AI · Draw box & track subject

Text · pinned above her

Adjust track · one fix, re-solved

Apply to clip · original kept

Privacy blur · Track & hide region

Blurred on every frame

So: track to pin a label or a logo to something that moves, and privacy blur for faces and number plates.

Record your screen straight onto the timeline, save the whole project as one file, and export it — as an MP4, a WebM, or a GIF.

Record · Screen · Camera · Both

Your browser asks which screen, window or tab to share — here, a tab of this site. Five seconds, then Stop.

5 s on the timeline

Playback resolution · ½ · ¼

One file · the edit + the media

Clear the timeline, open that file, and it all comes back, recording included.

23 shortcuts · Split: S → X

MP4 · WebM · quality = bitrate

GIF · 128 colours · about 2 MB

So: record what you need, save the project to come back to it, and export for wherever it is going.
