FLAC Compressor
Convert FLAC to MP3 or M4A, or re-compress FLAC. Presets, estimated size, waveform preview. Free, in-browser.
FLAC is lossless. Our tool lets you convert to MP3, M4A, or OGG for much smaller files, or output FLAC with compression level 0–8 for a small size gain. Use quick presets (Music high quality, Podcast ready), see live estimated output size and reduction percentage, and compare before/after with waveform preview. Optional loudness normalization and trim silence. All processing runs in your browser.
When to use FLAC Compressor vs other formats
Convert FLAC to MP3 or M4A when you need smaller files for phones, streaming, or sharing; use the Music high quality or Mobile friendly preset. Keep FLAC when archiving or when quality is paramount; use FLAC output with compression level 5–8. Use high bit rates (192–320 kbps) when converting to lossy to preserve quality.
Compatibility
Output format (MP3, M4A, FLAC, etc.) determines playback compatibility. FLAC is well supported on modern devices but not everywhere; MP3 and M4A are the safest for universal playback. The tool shows estimated output before you compress.
Quality considerations
FLAC to lossy always loses some quality. Use 256 kbps or higher for music if you want minimal difference. FLAC to FLAC (re-compress) stays lossless; level 5–8 gives smaller files. Use the quality meter to confirm settings.
