What This Tool Offers
This free tool reduces PowerPoint (PPTX) file size by recompressing images inside the presentation. File size is shown; use quality presets or a slider, set an optional output filename, and download a smaller file. After compression you see the size reduction (e.g. from X MB to Y MB). All in your browser.
- Recompress images: Images in the PPTX are re-encoded (e.g. JPEG) at the quality you set. Images larger than 1920px are resized.
- Quality presets and slider: Use Small (50%), Balanced (80%), or High (95%), or drag the slider (30%–100%). Lower = smaller file; higher = better fidelity.
- Size comparison: Original file size is shown. After compression, a comparison box shows original vs compressed size and the percentage smaller (or larger). Optionally set the output filename.
- Client-side and private: Your file is never uploaded; processing runs in your browser. Use Clear or Choose another file as needed.
Why Compress PowerPoint?
Compressing reduces file size for email, sharing, or storage while keeping the presentation usable. It’s especially helpful for image-heavy decks.
How It Works
Upload a PPTX (file size is shown), pick a quality preset or move the slider, and optionally set the output filename. Click Compress and download; the tool recompresses images in your browser and shows a size comparison: original vs compressed file size and the percentage smaller (or larger). Use Clear or Choose another file to start over.
Tips for Compressing PowerPoint
- Start with Balanced (80%) for a good trade-off between size and quality; try Small (50%) if you need a much smaller file.
- Image-heavy decks (photos, screenshots) benefit most. Text-only or chart-heavy PPTXs may shrink only slightly.
- Large images are automatically resized to a max of 1920px on the longest side, which helps reduce size without changing how they look on slide.
Powered by browser APIs and client-side processing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my file secure?
Yes. Processing runs entirely in your browser. Your PPTX never leaves your device.
What gets compressed?
Images inside the presentation are recompressed (e.g. to JPEG with chosen quality). Text and other elements are unchanged.
Will quality drop?
Lower quality settings reduce file size but can reduce image sharpness. Use a higher value (e.g. 0.7–0.9) to balance size and quality.
Can I set the output filename?
Yes. Enter a name in the Output filename field (without .pptx); the tool adds the extension. Leave blank to use the original name with _compressed appended.
How do I see the size comparison?
After you click Compress and download, a comparison box appears below the button showing original file size, compressed file size, and the percentage smaller (or larger). It stays visible until you clear or choose another file.
What if my PPTX has no images?
If there are no images to recompress, the file size may change little. The tool is most effective for image-heavy presentations.
