AAC Compressor
Reduce AAC/M4A file size. HE-AAC for low bitrate, presets, estimated output, waveform preview. Free, client-side.
AAC is an efficient lossy format. Our tool re-encodes at your chosen bit rate and supports HE-AAC for very low bitrates (e.g. 64 kbps) for clearer speech. Use quick presets (Podcast ready, Mobile friendly), see estimated output size and reduction percentage, and compare before/after with waveform preview. Optional loudness normalization and trim silence. All compression runs in your browser.
When to use AAC Compressor vs other formats
Re-compress AAC/M4A when the source bit rate is higher than needed; use presets for one-click setup. Use AAC for best quality at small size on Apple and most modern devices. Enable HE-AAC at 64 kbps for speech. Use MP3 when you need the broadest compatibility. Use FLAC or WAV when you need lossless.
Compatibility
Compressed AAC (often as M4A) plays on iPhones, Android, and most desktop and streaming apps. The tool shows estimated output and quality meter. For very old devices, convert the result to MP3.
Quality considerations
Lowering bit rate reduces quality. Avoid re-encoding already low-bit-rate AAC. For music, 128–192 kbps is a good target; for speech, 64–96 kbps with HE-AAC often suffices. Use the quality meter to confirm.
Example use cases
- Reduce AAC podcast or music file size for sharing or backup.
- Shrink voice or interview AAC for email or upload limits.
- Create smaller AAC copies for mobile or web use.
- Compress AAC audiobook or narration for distribution.
- Reduce AAC size for embedding in video or presentations.
