Volume Booster, Every Setting: Presets, Ceiling, Limiter and Fades (Free)
Every setting of the free Volume Booster on a quiet meeting recording (−29.4 LUFS, but only 1.7 dB of room before −1 dBTP): the four presets and their predictions, the ceiling that holds peaks at −1 dBTP (+6 dB planned, +5.4 dB actually louder), what Let it clip does (+9.3 dBTP — distortion), Maximum without clipping (+1.7 dB), the ceiling level and fades — then three jobs: quiet speech (+11.2 dB), loud music where a booster is the wrong tool (+12 asked, +5.3 got) and music that is too loud (Quieter −6). Nothing is uploaded.

The Volume Booster, every setting, on a meeting recording that is far too quiet — −29.4 LUFS — yet has only 1.7 dB of room before −1 dBTP, because one dropped book used it all. Each preset predicts, before you run it, what it will do to the peaks. Twice as loud is +6 dB, so the ceiling holds the peaks at −1 dBTP; the result card measures what actually changed: 5.4 dB louder, because the limiter only touched the peaks. Let it clip turns the ceiling off — +12 dB would peak at +9.3 dBTP, which is distortion. Maximum without clipping gives the largest boost that needs no limiter: here, +1.7 dB. On quiet speech, Much louder lands 11.2 dB louder. On music that is already loud, +12 dB gets you only 5.3 — a booster is the wrong tool there. And Quieter −6 tucks music under a voice. Free boosts one file up to 50 MB and 15 minutes by up to 20 dB. Nothing is uploaded.

−29.4 LUFS · only 1.7 dB of room
The volume booster, every setting: the presets, the gain, the ceiling that stops clipping, and when a booster is the wrong tool entirely. Free, and nothing is uploaded.
The readout first: how loud it peaks, how loud it sounds, and how much room is left. Then the presets, the gain, the ceiling, how to handle it, fades and the format.
Quieter −6 · Gentle +3 · Twice +6 · Much louder +12
+6 dB · held at −1 dBTP
Actually got +5.4 dB louder
Let it clip → +9.3 dBTP
Maximum without clipping: +1.7 dB
The ceiling itself sits at minus one, the level the big platforms ask for. Set it lower and the room disappears — at minus three, this file has none left.
Fades ease the start and the end in, so a boosted recording does not start with a jolt.
Quiet speech · Much louder · +11.2 dB
Loud music · +12 → only +5.3 dB
Too loud · Quieter −6
So: quiet speech, much louder with the ceiling held. Loud music, leave it alone. Too loud, quieter.
Free: 1 file · 50 MB · 15 min · up to +20 dB
